How to increase engineering efficiency by 20%?

The Challenge

An automotive supplier had to increase their engineering volume without increasing capacity. They needed 20% more technical efficiency to cope with the increasing workload, while keeping time, costs and investments stable.

How? Our approach

To identify the improvement potential in areas such as simulation, outsourcing and supplier integration, Strategy Engineers benchmarked competitor and industry best practices. In a two-year transformation program, we developed the necessary improvement measures and ensured results with a push-pull strategy. In this, push teams develop and provide improvements, which the pull teams implement to meet their efficiency targets.

So what? Our impact

Together with our client, we developed a transformation plan. After implementing the new improvement measures, the annual review showed an increase in engineering efficiency of more than 20% – a huge success for the project.
